From Lattice, to Line, to Section.
Bamboos interweave to form a firm lattice like flowers blossoming on the exterior of skyscrapers. This design reminds us of bamboos’ inner beauty which has always been ignored. The scaffolding grids are cut into small pieces and combined to form cylinder-shaped “Light-columns”, which the light penetrates through the gaps in between bamboos’ ring-shaped sections. Japanese rice paper is used to cover the tops of each piece, which produces a soft light. The light-columns stand in a concrete square, filled with small pebbles, resembling a Japanese garden.
